Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) is a global leader in advanced energy and battery technologies and was founded in 2011 in Ningde, China. CATL is a long-standing partner of the German and global electric vehicle and energy storage industry. In 2024, CATL was the supplier with the highest installed battery volume in electric vehicles worldwide for the eighth consecutive year. For four years in a row, CATL has also held the highest market share in the global supply of energy storage batteries. 
From our first European production site at Erfurter Kreuz, we have been supplying German car manufacturers with cells and modules made in Thuringia since 2022. Globally, CATL employs more than 100,000 people at 13 production sites and 6 research centres with branches and offices in France, Germany, Japan, North America and China. Our batteries are already installed in more than 17 million electric vehicles worldwide - that corresponds to around one in three electric vehicles.
